On Tour In America
This is a collection of photographs and postcards from when the Zanettos and some of their families toured America.
George is easily recognisable below, in the middle, facing the camera.
George again, with a dog that features in several photos. The lady to the left with her hands on her hips looks like Lilian, with George's daughter Jessie standing next to her.
Below, Frank seated right, Lilian seated left, with Pip behind her, and George and Jessie on top step.
Donovan and Arnold were on the bill with The Zanettos in Ogden, in 1910 (above),
and Mr & Mrs Donovan went touring with Pip and Lilian (below).
The following postcard photo shows George with hat and dog on his lap, Jessie immediately below, next to Frank, and Pip on the far left.
The postcard clearly had to be forwarded a couple of times to catch up with the artistes on tour, and the sender must have shared Pip's interest in photography as he wrote:
"Dear Pip, This is the first one I have printed of this. I thought I would send you one. Best Wishes, Tom"
Below, eating corn-on-the-cob at Coney Island
The photo below looks as if it was taken behind a theatre or on a movie set. And the comment written on the back implies that it was taken by a photographer intending it to be used by Pip for professional purposes.
The only references I've been able to find so far that might identify the photographer are as follows:
